A traditional home with a breeze of modernism enveloped in the warmth of native Indian materials. Shree Kriya is a villa that is super close to our heart. Super neat architecture gave us the ability to work on a beautiful façade and the interiors. We wanted to design something with the essence of Indian elements and we did exactly that. This individual apartment style villa house consists of one apartment in each floor. Every apartment has an open plan where the living flows into the dining and kitchen, with three spacious bedrooms and two cozy balconies completes the home. We wanted the home to be warm and welcoming, stand bold yet shy and we played with the right materials to keep it simple. The façade was designed with earthy tones, with changing paths of the sunlight we wanted to create something interesting for our clients in the balcony that they can enjoy all day and year long. A clean façade with textured grey fin frames patterned terracotta Jaali’s on one side, neat vertical railings with planter box breaks that hold flowering plants run through until it meets vertical wooden finished fins that act as a partial partition for privacy and all these elements together makes the sunlight dance gracefully throughout the day creating patterns on the walls and floors of the balcony. This elevation design is a visual treat for every one that loves the warmth of a home. The small lobby of the residence is a aesthetically designed stairwell and a lift that has access to all the floors.

The staircase is an elegant combination of wood and granite for the riser and tread that hosts super neat railings with wooden handrails. Every apartment entrance was incorporated with a patterned marble tile that depicts a traditional kolam or rangoli for the home. Every apartments welcomes you with a traditionally  articulated wooden double doors that opens you into a spacious living and dining area and leads into three bedrooms. The handmade Aathangudi tiles of Karaikudi adds a bright warmth to the floors of entire apartment connecting the places with authenticity. Each apartment has the concept of Thinnai ( Hard seating for social gatherings as per south Indian traditional houses ) in every room of the house. We added mid-century wainscot panelling to the living room and made west meet east. The high ceilings are framed with wooden cornices as an additional element from the past. The breakfast counter opens into the dining parting the kitchen partially. A super neat pooja room with fluted glass and small column like spacers articulates the doors. Every bedroom is tailored to our clients requirements, the wardrobes are designed as per their utility and are finished with Duco. With lots of natural light and cross ventilation this house truly contains a pleasant vibe. The roof garden with the entertainment room on the final floor is designed with a pantry and this space is used for family gatherings. This is a real home.
