Project Type : Studio Apartment | Area : 1200 sft | Location : Boat Club | Project Year : 2019

A typical terrace that we converted into a cute cozy studio apartment. This studio space is the terrace of a G+1 individual house which had a bedroom already. We created a pocket for an open terrace garden and made the entrance open and breezy with big glass sliding doors. Our idea was to make sure the room was accessible from within the apartment, to achieve this we added a small L shape chequered partition with MS & glass that leads into the master bedroom. The studio opens to a small linear open foyer that flows into the kitchen with high breakfast counter and a simple white kitchen. The living room and the kitchen together is one huge entity that flows within each other. To show a subtle difference of the space we added two different types of flooring.

The wooden textured tile that spreads across the living and passage to the master bedroom, other tile being a distressed grey finish that spreads from the entrance into the kitchen. We kept the ceiling and walls as white as possible to flood in natural light and add volumes to the space. With our ever-evolving love for panelling we added a clean patterned wall panel on one wall of the living room and finished it with Duco paint. This element adds a beautiful character to the space and makes the ambience of the studio feel warm & welcoming. The kitchen walls are highlighted using backsplash tiles that edge till the ceiling to bring in the beauty of the height of the space. Adding in the wooden pelmets as the skirting it elevates the look of this space elegantly.
